Google Malware report for Australia 2013

Google recently published a report on servers hosting Malware infected websites and the marks for many large and well known hosts in Australia aren’t generally too good. On average 7% of the website hosted in Australia are infected by malware in the last year. While it’s up to the site owner to ensure their site is patched and up to date to stay malware free and to fix any outbreak its also important the hosting provider detect and shut down these sites in a timely fashion to not only prevent the sites infecting end users but also to minimise their impact on other sites on the server. Sites are generally isolated from one another but an infected site can be used to send out spam, attack others on the same server, degrade server performance or get the server blacklisted none of which is good to users on the server.
